Since 2019 · Ratu Road, Ranchi

We started with one tempo and eleven farmers.

Farmyuga began in 2019 with a simple frustration: the farmer in Ratu was selling palak at a rate that made no sense, and the restaurant in Doranda was paying a rate that made even less. Between them sat four layers of people who had never touched the crate.

We built the shortest line we could between the two — buy at the field, grade it ourselves, deliver it before the kitchen opens. Six years later that line feeds 500+ regular buyers across Ranchi.

Our mission

Shorten the chain. Keep the rate honest. Show up every morning.

Jharkhand grows more vegetables than Ranchi eats. Yet a hotel in Lalpur and a family in Kanke often pay two very different prices for the same crate cut on the same morning — because the chain between the field and the plate is long, opaque and built on relationships nobody can see.

Farmyuga exists to compress that chain to two steps: the farmer and us. We agree a rate with the grower before the harvest, collect at the field, grade it in our own yard on Ratu Road, and deliver it ourselves. No commission agent, no second mandi, no quiet mark-up depending on who is asking.

It is not a complicated idea. It is just difficult to do at 4 AM, seven days a week, for six years. That difficulty is the entire business.

What we hold to

Four rules we don't bend

Written down in 2019, tested every season since.

Fair to the farmer

We pay our growers within 48 hours of collection, in full, at a rate agreed before the harvest. A supply chain that squeezes the farm eventually fails the kitchen.

Freshness over volume

We would rather tell you an item is finished for the day than send yesterday's crate. Turning down an order costs less than losing a buyer's trust.

One rate for everyone

The hotel and the household see the same number on the same morning. Our margin sits in the volume we move, not in who is watching the scale.

Show up, every day

Rain, strike, festival — the vans run. Reliability is the only thing a supplier really sells.

120+ farming families across three blocks

Ratu, Kanke and Bero. Most of our growers farm two acres or less, and most of them have been with us for more than three seasons. We plan sowing with them — if four farmers all plant lauki in the same window, the rate collapses and everybody loses.

  • Collected at the field

Our collection vehicle reaches the growers between 3 and 4:30 AM, so produce moves straight from field to grading yard.

  • Paid in 48 hours

No season-end settlement, no deductions. Farmers know the rate before they cut and the money before the week ends.

  • Graded, not gambled

Every lot is inspected at the yard. We tell the farmer what got rejected and why — grading improves, wastage falls for everyone.

The road so far

From 300 kg a day to a city-wide route

Six years of Ranchi mornings, one step at a time.

  1. 2019

A single tempo and eleven farmers

Farmyuga started on Ratu Road with one hired tempo, eleven farming families and four restaurant clients in Doranda. The first month moved under 300 kg a day.

  2. 2020

Lockdown put us on the doorstep

When Ranchi's markets shut, families started calling. We built the home delivery side almost overnight and served 200+ households through the lockdown months.

  3. 2022

    Grading yard and cold handling

We took a covered yard off Ratu Road, added sorting tables, weighing scales and ice-pack handling for leafy greens and mushrooms.

  4. 2023

    Rate cards and contracts

The 6 AM WhatsApp rate card went out for the first time. Locked rate bands followed, so kitchens could budget a month ahead instead of guessing.

  5. 2024

    Twelve localities, seven days

Two more vehicles took us across Ranchi — Kanke to Namkum — with a genuine seven-day schedule and a 5 AM bulk dispatch.

  6. Today

    500+ buyers, 120+ farmers

Over 500 regular customers, 40+ varieties and a farmer network across the Ratu, Kanke and Bero blocks. Still dispatching at 5 AM.

The people behind it

Fourteen people, one shift that starts at 3:30 AM

Farmyuga is a small, hands-on team. Nobody here has an office job — the person who takes your call has also loaded a crate.

Sourcing desk

Two field buyers who know every partner farmer by name and settle rates before the harvest is cut.

Grading yard

A six-person sorting team working from 3:30 AM — weighing, grading and crating by item and by client.

Dispatch & delivery

Three vehicles, four drivers and one route planner who keeps the 5–8 AM bulk window intact, seven days a week.

Taaza sabzi, roz subah

Come see the yard at 4 AM. Then decide.

The fastest way to judge a vegetable supplier is to watch them grade. Call ahead and visit us on Ratu Road any morning — or just start with a one-week trial.
